Competition Terms and Conditions
The “Berlin Buzzword competition” (“Competition”) is run by SoundCloud Limited of Greifswalder Straße 212-213, 10405 Berlin, Germany (“SoundCloud”, “we”, “our”, us”).
By taking part in the Competition, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, (the “Terms”), and by the decisions of SoundCloud which are final in all matters relating to the Competition.
1. Eligibility to enter the Competition
1.1 You may enter the Competition if you are aged 18 or over. This Competition is not being promoted in any country where it would be unlawful to do so, or where these Terms, or the administration of the Competition in accordance with these Terms, does not meet local legal requirements.
1.2 You may not enter the Competition if you or any member of your family is an employee of SoundCloud or an affiliate company.
2. Participation
2.1 The Competition runs from April 27, 2014 to May 5, 2014 at 23:59 UTC.
2.2 In order to participate in the Competition send us your algorithm as described at developers.soundcloud.com/blog/buzzwords-contest, a README file containing instructions on how to setup and run your code, and a link to the source code repository, to e@soundcloud.com.
3. Selection of winner
3.1 All entries submitted on time will be judged against the criteria published at developers.soundcloud.com/blog/buzzwords-contest.
3.2 If you are selected as a winner, we will contact you via the email address you provided within seven days after the closing date. You need to acknowledge the notification and provide:
- your full name and address
- date of birth
- and any other personal information necessary to book your flight and accommodation for you
within 24 hours of receipt of the notification. If you do not notify us as described above, SoundCloud reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
4. Prizes
4.1 The winner will receive one free ticket to the Berlin Buzzword Conference accommodation in Berlin for four nights, and one round-trip economy class flight to Berlin from the nearest airport to your city of residence, or at the discretion of SoundCloud, a second class ticket by train to Berlin from the station nearest to your city of residence (altogether “Prize”).
4.2 Winners shall be required to hold a valid passport and/or other necessary travel documentation and visas. Where travel on a specific date is necessary, the winner must be able to travel on the date specified by us and no alternative dates will be available.
4.3 The take-over of any costs or expenses not mentioned under 4.1 by SoundCloud as well as a pay-out of the Prize is excluded.
5. Your data
All personal information you submit to us by entering the Competition is necessary for us to be able to contact you as a winner and in order to deliver and manage the Prize. All personal information shall only be used in connection with the Competition.
6. Early termination and exclusion
6.1 SoundCloud reserves the right to terminate the Competition at any time without notice and without giving any reason for termination. This can be the case, but is not limited to, if a proper implementation of the Competition cannot be guaranteed for technical or legal reasons. In such case entrants shall have no claims against SoundCloud.
6.2 SoundCloud reserves the right to disqualify entrants from participation in the Competition. This applies in particular if participants make use of manipulation or other dishonest practices in order to win the Competition.
7. Other
7.1 If any of the Terms are deemed to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable under any applicable law, the affected Terms shall be deleted but the remaining Terms shall continue in full force and effect.
7.2 The Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes.
